The Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll work with company driven by thought leaders in social web and interactive technologies. This is an opportunity to become a trailblazer in technology innovations that are making global headlines.

As the Director of Software Development and Technology, you’ll take the reins in leading product releases, and in delivering support essential to shipping software product and hardware infrastructure.

In this multifaceted role you’ll oversee full-time employees, contractors and third party vendors.

Assuming the role of lead architect, you’ll drive platform innovation and leverage your hands-on knowledge of modern programming techniques and best practices.

In addition, you’ll lead front-end web developers, back-end platform developers, operations staff and support staff who will take care of testing, user support and system administration.

You’ll be accountable for the following:

• Defining and implementing development methodologies – optimized for frequent and flexible software iterations;
• Providing subject matter expertise – technology direction, infrastructure procurement and development resourcing;
• Management of the development environment – related processes and documentation including source control and code promotions;
• Management of the hardware infrastructure – including use of third party vendors (e.g. cloud computing);
• Defining, communicating and enforcing coding standards;
• Improving and monitoring code development – including code checks and feedback to team members;
• Instilling an awareness of various software approaches (e.g. .NET, use of diagnostic tools) and methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall);
• Maintenance of software architecture and technology related documentation.

Additional Accomplishments:

• 3+ years experience in developing technical specification documentation
• 3+ years experience with web service development, deployment and maintenance
• Practical knowledge implementing a secure web platform, including detection of existing issues, implementing improvements and maintenance
• Experience with web application development building on a LAMP infrastructure
• Experience with PHP5 Object Oriented Programming
• Experience with database design, maintenance, and evaluation, specifically for a growing and scalable platform
• Knowledge and Experience with server hardware (Dell, Intel), network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Load Balancers) and Experience with Linux (various distributions).
